Creepy, crawly, and disgusting are just a few words that people use to describe insects. These annoying pests enter our homes when we least expect it, and start making a home for themselves. When this happens, its time to use some pest control, which you can do with the following tips.

Never step on a cockroach to kill it. When you step on it, it can release its egg sac. The eggs can then be transferred from the bottom of your shoes throughout the carpets and rugs in your home. The eggs survive in your carpet until they are ready to hatch, leaving you with a much bigger roach problem.

Ask your exterminator to use the most effective methods first. Many exterminators assume that you rather give the less potent methods a try first, in order to save money, but they very rarely work. You might as well just use the most effective method so that it is done and over with.

Keep your home as clean as possible. Even though this will not keep pests away, you at least will not be giving them an incentive to stick around. Many pests can smell food from a good distance away. If you want to do whatever you can to reduce your pest problem you should be diligent in keeping your house tidy.

Kill ants around your home using an easy-to-make home concoction. Combine borax and sugar in a jar in a 1:1 ratio. Sprinkle the mixture around the outside of your home at its foundation and anywhere else youve noticed ants. The sugar will attract the ants, while the borax will kill them.

If you see damaged wood in your home, look at it closely for what kind of damage it is. If you see that the soft parts of the wood are gone but that the annual rings are intact, you likely have termites. Other forms of damage would be from other forms of insects.

Suffering from a pest infestation? Use borax and sugar to terminate them. They are drawn to the sugar, while the borax will prove lethal. Mix equal parts sugar and borax in a small, lidded jar. Put some holes in the top of the lid to make it easy to sprinkle.

If you live on a farm and have a problem with mice, or even rats, consider getting a couple outdoor cats to provide natural pest control. Make sure the cats have not been declawed, and have access to every part of the outdoor buildings. Make sure to provide food and water to the cats because they will still catch mice even if they are not hungry.

Fleas are a tough pest, but there are things you can work on to improve the situation. Start by vacuuming them every day and then using a flea spray. You must dump your vacuum or throw away the bag each time you vacuum your whole house.

Vacuuming your home on a weekly basis is the best way to get rid of pest. Use your vacuum on your mattress too if you have bed bugs. Replace the vacuum bag regularly and invest in a quality carpet cleaning mousse if you want to disinfect your entire home efficiently.

If you have a lot of debris and overgrown plants in your yard, you are inviting pests into your home. Litter, debris, overgrown plants, and trash are all great habitats for pests. If these pests are right outside your door, it will take no time before they are inside your home and becoming a problem.

Insects may find their way into your home, but they wont live to see another day. The next time a bug decides to set up camp inside your home, use these pest control tips on it. The bug and any of its friends that wandered in will be pushing up daisies.
